Ajhure Melshimber

Let's write a story together! All kinds of RP are welcome, whether short, long, SFW, NSFW, NPCs, OCs, shipping, or multishipping.

Basic Info

Level Setting

  • I keep Ajhure fully up-to-date on MSQ. If you want to avoid spoilers, let me know sooner rather than later.

  • I prefer Discord DMs, especially for longer RP, but I'm flexible.

  • Want to do something that would fall outside my standard HC for Ajhure? Let's talk and see if we can find a workable solution.

  • I'm not easily offended or triggered. As long as you can take no for an answer, you can ask me pretty much anything.

  • If at any point you want to stop RPing for any reason, let me know and we will stop. You won’t hurt my feelings, and you don’t owe me an explanation for anything. It’s only fun for me if you’re having fun, too.

First Impression

Ajhure's first impression is usually friendly and approachable, and often flirty or silly. She's quick to smile and quick to laugh, and likes to engage in good-natured teasing.

Personal Reputation

Ajhure doesn't advertise that she's the Warrior of Light, so most civilians know her primarily as a skilled and versatile crafter. In Limsa, people know that she's an adventurer because she has a cottage in Mist, but they assume she's a small-time adventurer. She's not shy about her sexuality, and has a reputation for being promiscuous. The gossip mills in Gridania and Ishgard often slut-shame her. Those pearl-clutching gossip mills will also complain that she's "brazen" and "shameless." In other words, she doesn't give a damn what they think.

WOL Reputation

The Warrior of Light is known as a fearsome, violent, half-mad mage who runs screaming and laughing into battle.Ajhure's able to keep a low profile because most people can't reconcile what they've heard about the Warrior of Light with the friendly crafter they see running around town.IMPORTANT NOTE!
This is your hint that Ajhure has a dark side. All I'll say here is please don't expect interactions with her to be all rainbows and unicorns. If you want more details, check out the Personality and Backstory pages.

Personality

Persona

Ajhure wears a persona of being an approachable, flirty, unintimidating little auri woman, but she's actually a massive nerd and a powerful mage. Her persona isn't a lie, exactly. She really does like to flirt, and she really does care about people and wants to put friends and acquaintances at ease (and make enemies underestimate her), but under the hood, she's always making several cold calculations at once.

Personality

I guess if I had to distill Ajhure's personality down to a single word, it would be "extreme." She’s extremely affectionate, extremely violent, extremely restless, extremely traumatized, extremely intellectual, extremely reckless. At first, she can seem laid back because she's so friendly and willing to meet people where they're at, but if you spend much time with her...well, it can be exhausting and sometimes frightening.

Sexuality

Sexuality is one of the three main pillars of Ajhure’s personality (the other two being pursuit of knowledge/magecraft and giving a damn about people).Ajhure knows that by most people’s estimation, she’s a massive slut. But she thinks most people’s ideas about sex are insane, and she’s basically immune to slut-shaming. It’s not my fault if they’re too stupid to know that word is a compliment. She usually gets to know someone before sleeping with them, but she’ll make an exception if she’s in a mood. She has one main lover who she grudgingly admits is her soulmate. She was certain that a “soulmate” was a stupid made-up idea, and was very disturbed to find out it actually exists. She has a second close relationship with someone she cares about, but definitely doesn’t think of as a soulmate. She feels perennially guilty about not being able to give him more, even though he insists he wouldn’t know what to do with more even if she could give it.Beyond those two main relationships, she’s more or less at the center of a loose polycule she connects with occasionally, often with her soulmate in tow. (He’s almost as promiscuous as she is, which is one of the many reasons they work so well together.)She’s pansexual. While she’s more likely to be instantly attracted to a man, she feels like limiting oneself to one gender is akin to limiting oneself to only sweet or only salty foods. And to be clear, her interest isn’t limited to cisgendered people. She’s also happy to engage with someone who’s non-binary, trans (in either direction), or intersex. As far as she’s concerned, people are people, and getting picky about anatomical features betrays a lack of imagination. She was a prostitute back in the day, and even now won’t hesitate to use her body to achieve her goals (guards are so easy to distract and bribe). But in her mind, this doesn’t even count as promiscuity. It’s just business.

CONTENT WARNING!

Dark themes, including war crimes and sexual exploitation.

Many Worlds Headcanon

Althyk showed Ajhure that the Sundering not only broke Etheirys into reflections within separate dimensions. It shattered reality both forward and backward in time, creating a nigh-infinite number of interwoven and overlapping realities, each with their own Azem/WOL/reflections.This gives Ajhure some understanding of the multiplicity of WOLs. It also makes Duty Finder somewhat canon. It's basically Althyk calling her to help a WOL in another reality.

Backstory Highlights

She has no coherent memories before the start of ARR, only flashes without context. From research she and G’raha have done, she’s been able to determine:

  • She was born in a small village in Yanxia.

  • Around age 8, the Garleans flattened her village and she was sold to sex slavers.

  • At some point in her teens, she escaped and took up pirating and prostitution.

  • She was sailing the Rhotano Sea when the Calamity struck, and may have washed up on Vylbrand.

  • She’s been unable to find anything on the 5 years between the Calamity and ARR.

A Realm Reborn

When I created Ajhure, I knew nothing about FFXIV or its lore. The name I chose didn’t have any special significance; it was just a combination of names recycled from other games I’ve played. (For you D&D nerds out there, Melshimber is from Forgotten Realms. It’s one of the noble houses of Waterdeep.)It was pretty obvious from the opening cutscene that this was going to be a story-driven game, so I made some quick and dirty headcanon on the spot. Since I knew nothing about the world, I decided that Ajhure was equally ignorant. How, you ask? Amnesia, obviously. (I did mention this was quick and dirty, right?) I decided that Ajhure’s first memory was that dream of Hydaelyn just before waking up on the boat bound for Limsa. When she arrived in Limsa, and Baderon asked her to add her name to the Adventurer’s Guild roster, her hand wrote “Ajhure” before she even realized what she was doing. But when it came time to write her last name, her hand failed her, so she invented the surname “Melshimber” and haltingly added it behind “Ajhure.” At the time, she had no idea how she came up with either name. For a long time after, she knew nothing about her past before that vision aboard the ship bound for Limsa. She thought about putting out a couple of feelers, but didn’t really know where to start, and was afraid of what she might find. In every new place she visited, she both hoped and feared that someone might recognize her. After a while, she became so focused on the challenges of the present, that she only rarely spent time wondering about her past.

Post-Shadowbringers

After the events of Shadowbringers, Ajhure and G’raha Tia became very close. (Yes, that close. But that’s a story for another time.) When he found out about her lost past, being the insatiable historian and researcher that he is, he had to investigate. Ajhure shared her fears that she might have been someone terrible in the past, but G'raha was unconvinced and undeterred. (Typical. That catboi has always done whatever the fuck he wants.)Since her earliest memories were of Limsa, he started with the Lominsan port records archives. A listing in the records from before the Calamity included a ship from the far east called the Flying Lotus and captained by a Melanie “Mad Mel” Shimber. At that time, crew names were rarely listed, since most of the sailors entering the city were pirates and often took assumed names. Instead, port officials would write down physical descriptions of crew members. Among the crew of the Flying Lotus was a “blue-skinned auri woman.”Although he didn’t find any other mention of this blue-skinned auri, he was able to dig up additional information about Mad Mel. She was a notorious pirate said to be from the far east, known to take only females for crew and to reserve her most vicious attacks for Garlean vessels. Some hailed Mel as a hero who rescued women and girls from Garlean sex slavers, while others accused her of stealing impressionable young girls for her “whorehouse on the high seas.” It’s impossible to tell from the surviving records which accounts, if any, were true. The only detail that could be corroborated was her preference for female crew, as the crew descriptions from the Lominsan port records listed only female crewmembers on her ship.Since Mad Mel was reportedly from the far east, G'raha knew the next place to go was Kugane, but he had other matters to attend to. He finally shared with Ajhure what he’d unearthed so far and told her if she wanted to continue the project, he’d be happy to act as her research advisor. What she found was…not much. There was some sparse evidence that she may have come from Yanxia, but after the fall of Doma, the Garleans massacred thousands, if not tens of thousands in that region, leaving no witnesses to provide her any clues.

Post-Endwalker

When Garlemald fell, she knew that could open up some new leads on her past, but she was a little too busy putting out dumpster fires to do anything about it. After the Endsinger/Zenos fights, she finally had some down time, so once she had recovered somewhat from her injuries, she pulled an Estinien and snuck off on her own.She scoured abandoned government buildings in the Garlemald capitol, and eventually hit paydirt, sort of. Unfortunately, the Garleans didn't take a roll call of everyone they massacred, but they did record some general demographics, and she was at least able to narrow things down to a dozen or so villages in and around present-day Castrum Fluminis in southeastern Yanxia. According to the records, the area had a high percentage of blue-skinned Raen Au Ra and was “subdued” in 1555. (For context, Doma fell in 1552, and ARR begins in 1575.)
